My Emo Song...its called "A Plant for Nana"

"A Plant for Nana"
Lyrics (N. Dunham/M. MacMillan) Music (N. Dunham)

I just wanted what was best for you,
Apparently you wanted that too.
So here I sit just wondering why,
I don't pull the rope tighter and die!

How does it feel,
when you punch me in the face
and laugh at me?
How does it feel?
How does it feel,
when there are so many tears
that you can't see?
How does it feel?
How does it feel?

I'll never forget all those times we spent,
but those days have come and went.
I stare as he gazes into your warm blue eyes
remember when that used to be me?
Can't believe our love was built on lies.

How does it feel,
when you punch me in the face
and laugh at me?
How does it feel?
How does it feel,
when there are so many tears
that you can't see?
How does it feel?
How does it feel?

So let's rip my heart out,
throw it on the cold, damp floor,
dance all over it
and then have a good cry about it

Those should be my hands skimming your body,
running through your golden hair.
I feel like a prisoner trapped in love's bittersweet lair.

So let's rip my heart out,
throw it on the cold, damp floor,
dance all over it
and then have a good cry about it

How does it feel,
You caused all of this!
How does it feel,
How does it feel?

Party Week is Over

I tried to stretch it as long as possible, but alas, all good things must come to an end.

My birthday, came and went over the course of about a week and a half. I gotta say, had much more fun this year than in year's past...even more so than last year's infamous throwdown. While last year taught me a lot about what not to do, how drinking 9 or 10 beers in an hour, then drinking vodkas is not a good idea; this year was more about my friends than the alcohol...before I get all sappy on you, please remember that the alcohol was there! We had a little get together before my actual birthday, then we had one the night of my birthday, then a smaller one on like wednesday, then the weekend came.

My friend Mary came down with her three roommates: Ana, Gabby and Mandy. Friday night we sawGrayson Hill play at the Plantaton Bar in Rum Runners. We got there a little late, but they were really good. I think we all had a good time, as there was plenty of drinking, yelling, and drunken dancing. Yesterday was a bit more mellow as we recovered from the night before...some of us more than others...ahem. But one moment of random drinking threw us right back into the party, and me into a 2 1/2 hour nap, which later resulted in my driving to savannah at 2AM...We had fun in the SAV, even though the room I stayed in tried to kill me, and then the person who's room it actually was probably wanted to kill me...but that's a completely different post.

So here I sit, with only 9 hours of sleep over the past two nights, wondering if it really is a common thing that everyone twitches before they go to sleep, hoping Audrey gets her curtains fixed, and trying to figure out who motorboated Gabby...and I can't wait to do it again!

It's my birthday!

It's my 21st birthday everyone!!! Check out my cake! (ok, that's not my cake...but I thought it was funny that someone who turned 21 would have a pokemon cake...on second thought that could just be a teddy bear)

Sports Blog In The Works!

AFTER LOTS OF THOUGHT, BUDGETING, PRAYERS AND PLEADINGS, I'VE TAKEN IT UPON MYSELF TO DELVE FURTHER INTO THE BLOGGING WORLD AND START A SPORTS BLOG. EVERYTHING RELATED TO SPORTS IS FAIR GAME, AND EVEN IF YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT SPORTS, MY GOAL IS TO NOT ONLY GIVE YOU INSIGHT, BUT TO KEEP YOU ENTERTAINED AS WELL. I'LL NO DOUBT POST ON THIS BLOG ONCE THE SITE IS UP AS WELL AS PUT IT IN THE "LINKS" SECTION OF THIS BLOG.

Count it!

Following the lead of a friend of mine I've changed my counter from the elementary school, "count every pageload", to the grown up "count each unique visit..." which basically means that I can't inflate my page numbers now...damn.

Reason #45,286 I want to be a lawyer...

Thought I'd share an interesting anecdote my Business Law professor told us yesterday in class. Mind you, my professor has been practicing law for sometime, and still teaches class in the evenings.

Dr. Clifton was defending someone who had been charged with possesion of 37 rocks of crack cocaine and 100 grams of marijuana. While in the courtroom, with all of the evidence laid out on a large table in the middle of the courtroom, Dr. Clifton got the opportunity to cross examine one of the arresting officers. He began by asking the officer if he had found any fingerprints in the bedroom where the drugs where found. No. How about the closet in the bedroom? No. Ok, did you find any fingerprints on the plastic bags the drugs where in? Nope...Did you find ANY fingerprints? No we didn't. Why is that? The officer responded by saying the police department simply didn't have the budget to send fingerprints to the lab.

After dismissing the witness, my professor began his closing arguments (the second best part of being a lawyer, aside from the opening statement) by mentioning that there was no way the jury could convict his client without proof that he had even TOUCHED the drugs. There was no reason to send a seemingly innocent man to jail for 30 years...OBJECTION! Apparently he forgot that you can't make mention of the possible sentencing of a defendant if they were convicted, as that paints a picture in the jury's mind as to whether or not they feel they deserve that much time...anyway, the judge allowed Dr. Clifton to proceed, and didn't request a re-trial. He went on to win, and as they left the courtroom, his client and his client's family were so happy and glad that he wasn't found guilty. Dr. Clifton's client thanked him to no end for getting his life back for him and so on. Right before he left, Dr. Clifton's client approached him with one more question "any way I could get those drugs back?"

I'm so glad the system works. One of the only professions in the world where you can actually be right by defending somebody who's wrong...

Counter

For those of you who have noticed, I've succumb to the masses and added a counter at the bottom of my site. Since 9:00 PM Last night I've had 21 visits...about 6 of them are mine.

Hey Everybody! Come See How Good I Look!

Yesterday there was an apparent hostage situation (since resolved) at a law office by the courthouse. Apparently the guy and his girlfriend/wife traveled from what I believe to be Connecticut with a crude explosive device because they were upset at how the Statesboro attorney handled his case. Mind you, this was a court-appointed attorney, working for free...Anyway, we heard the news of this and thought "what better idea than to go check it out?!" So we did... When the courthouse didn't blow up and S.W.A.T didn't shoot anybody we got bored and left to eat chinese*. Once we got home a friend's mom called to tell us that we were indeed on TV watching on as concerned onlookers. There was a point where I yelled "LET'S LOOT EVERYTHING!" only to have everyone turn around and look at me with displeasure...I thought it was a good idea.

Back to school, back to school...to prove to dad that I'm not a fool

Here I am* back at good ole' GSU. This could be the best semester thus far. I have 3 business classes, and aside from not understanding my Russian Math teacher, I think my professors will be ok. I do have a crazy right-wing wacko as an Econ teacher...He told us in class that Democrats are stupid, he voted for George W. Bush, he only watches Fox News because they give you the facts straight, liberals are ruining the economy, and that basically every country that isn't America is a communist. This guy did fight for our country as a marine though, so he's definitely entititled to his opinion. And we are in college, so its not like he's brainwashing us. There's just some form of unprofessionalism that is exuded when teachers give out their political views, especially when they go against mine...just kidding. Winston Churchill said it best when he said "Any man who is not a liberal when young
has no heart, any man who is not a conservative when older has no brain". I interpret that as, when you're young and full of life, fight for civil rights...go against "The Man", and when you're old and rich, become a Republican so you can benefit from those sweeping tax cuts!

Another interesting comment, The Young Democrats sent me an email (since I occasionally attend meetings) to tell me about the MLK day parade down mainstreet, and that they're meeting at KFC as a gathering point...talk about racism.

R.I.P. Will Powers Stone 1985-2006

On Friday January 6th, 2006 my good friend Will Stone passed away. He was only 20 years old. He had pneumonia for two weeks, actually admitted to the hospital on Christmas Eve. It was a great shock to me that a perfectly healthy 20 year old can still die from Pneumonia.

Though I only knew Will for 2 years, he was one of the kindest people I have ever met and also one of the most fun-loving. I'll never forget the two short years of hanging out, playing poker and always losing, beating me at Risk the first time he ever played, countless games of football, and outfishing him at his own pond behind his house. The world has truly lost a great person, and it's a worse place with the lack of his presence. I ask everyone who reads this to please have his family and girlfriend in their thoughts and prayers, as it is even more difficult to mourn the death of someone who died so young.

Will, I love you man. And I hope you're in a better place now, one where we'll be able to see each other again...

Florida...Mother Nature's Stepchild and America's Retirement Home!

I spent the New Year's weekend in the great state of Florida. I left Rabun on Saturday Morning at 9:00 to arrive just north of Jacksonville around 3:30 PM. Good Times. That night I met with my friends Chris, Josh and Lance to go to Orlando to see Sevendust live at the House of Blues. The show was at 8:00 and when we got there (after eating at the world's most expensive McDonald's...$6.50 for a Big Mac Meal???)around 7:30 the line to get in was insane. We thought the House of Blues would be a somewhat intimate setting with only a few hundred people...nope, there were at least 1,000 in front of us in line, with another 1,000 or so behind us. After getting violated by the security guy (who also asked me to open up my can of lip balm, but didn't ask me to take off my hat...I think he just wanted to cop a feelsky) I finally got in and proceeded to the upper level with my friends, to watch a few thousand screaming teenagers get doused with water by the opening bands. I like the opening bands a lot, AM Conspiracy and Burn Season especially. When Sevendust came out, things got crazy! They absolutley rocked my face off, and then when it was about to be 12 they stopped in the middle of a song, and here's the kicker...DIDN'T DO A COUNTDOWN!!!! The lead singer Lajon was like "there's about 20 seconds left of 2005" and then like a minute later "Happy New Year Y'all" then drank a glass of champagne from a $500 bottle of Cristal, while I had a $6 beer...For you wrestling fans out there, since we were in the balcony area and only 5 feet from the VIP section, I got to sit behind former Tag-Team champion Bubba Ray Dudley, who was with some hot blonde, who he later got to kiss another girl beside her while he took a picture. After the concert, we walked around Downtown Disney at 1:30 in the morning, and then shot 7 people in the parking lot trying to get out...I'll tell you about Sunday in the next post!
