Typical College Student...

I would like to preface this post by first saying that I in no way want to sound egotistical or cocky, and though I do have a somewhat inflated ego, I've never been a bragger, don't fish for compliments and I rarely seek praise if it isn't already given.

Having said that, throughout my life things have been easy. I'm from a loving middle class family and though it sounds mean, I'm the favorite of my sister and brother; perhaps I'm just more manipulative. But it just seems that things work out for me most all of the time, and for that I am truly blessed. School was and has always been a piece of cake. I never had to study until college, and even then I did so sparingly, and I always made good grades. In fact, my parents expected so much of me, when I made my first B in 8th grade, they grounded me for 6 weeks! So once I got to college, I expected the same thing.

I'll be the first to tell you that I'm lazy, once I know what to do I'm a hard worker, but I'm lazy...I learn material, but I don't go to class. I take the quizzes and tests, but I don't do the homework. My first year at Georgia Southern University was wonderful, and its only gotten better, but I thought I was really destined for great things! My goals: dean's list every semester, I'll take 16-18 hours a semester and get out of here without taking summer courses, and above all I definitely won't be one of those people who change their major eleventy-billion (real number) times. Well, I have made the honor roll, but no dean's list, those B's get in the way of that. 16-18 hours turned into a struggle to be considered a full-time student with 12. And most importantly I've changed my major once every year I've been here. Guess what? I'm just your typical college student. I'm not an academic with scholarships pouring in from everywhere. I'm not a frat guy (though I love to party) failing out of every class, and I'm not a tree hugger (though a registered Democrat). Just your everyday, vanilla, seen one seen 'em all, missionary position, Martha Stewart college kids.

Upon my new found love for radio in 2003, my compulsive ass decided it a great idea to be a Broadcasting Major. That lasted a year, realized what my General Manager had already told me: If you're going to be in radio, you don't really have to go to school majoring in broadcasting. So I switched over to Business Administration the next year. That was too broad of a major for me so the next year I switched to Accounting. Why accounting? A banker told me that if I wanted to get into Corporate/Real Estate Law, then an accounting major would be the best thing...so what do I do? Switch to accounting! Then I realize, that's the worst major ever! If I'm not a lawyer, then I'll have to be an accountant, and who wants to be an accountant? So here we are, into my third year as a student, not expected to graduate on time, and I just got back from switching my major to General Finance...take of that what you will, but at least this major offers real estate classes and I'm taking Business Law next semester! So here's to being a mediocre college student!

My Knee Hurts

Long time no post...So about a week and a half ago (Friday night) it was homecomeing weekend and I had a friend coming into town, he gets in and being a consenting adult he decides it a good idea to get sloshed...This dude is real little but he can really hold his liquor (more on that later). So we all thought it a good idea to walk out to the different bars to see people and hang out. Upon our first group of bars we realize that they are all closing so we decide to go to another one we know is open and usually has a band playing. Walking down the road, my drunk friend decides to playfully start pushing people...no harm, no foul. Suddenly he catches me off guard and knocks me down into the road, when I hear a distinct popping in my knee. I try to get up, but no dice my knee is messed up. I have a friend under each arm as I walk back to my apartment and occasionally my knee will buckle to the right...you know, toward the other knee, which isn't normal. I ice it and go to sleep in severe pain. The next morning I wake up unable to move my knee so my parents decide to meet me halfway to have dinner and possibly go to the doctor. The pain is too great and so we decide to hit up the emergency room. Turns out I partially tore my MCL the ligiment in your knee that keeps it from buckling towards the other. So here I am on crutches for 3-4 weeks and a big ass brace on it. Bad times.
